Hauterive – La Souche Loop

The loop connecting Hauterive and La Souche takes you through an exceptional landscape where nature and Fribourg’s heritage come together. Following the Sarine River, the trail winds through peaceful forests, passes impressive cliffs carved by the river, and offers a true escape into the tranquillity of nature. The route begins at Hauterive Abbey, an iconic site of Fribourg’s heritage dating back to the 12th century. Nestled in a bend of the Sarine River and still home to a community of Cistercian monks, the abbey captivates visitors with its remarkable architecture, rich history, and the peaceful atmosphere that surrounds this exceptional place. Along the loop, six checkpoints mark the trail. At each stop, simply validate your visit to receive a number and try to crack the mystery code.
